From time to time, fashion needs a kick, in order to restart brighter and fresher. No wonder that the creative twist comes from “outside” – from another culture, with another vision, with much more enthusiasm. This is the case of talented Prabal Gurung.
Prabal Gurung, a Nepalese American fashion designer, trained in New Delhi and then at Parsons, has a long experience of collaborations with great designers, such as Manish Arora, Donna Karan and Bill Blass. He shows his collections at NY Fashion since 2009. His new collection Spring/Summer 2012 comes along with a quite impressive look, sophisticated silhouettes, graphic and color, plastified details. Plus, the belts and harnesses by Zana Bayne.
I appreciate the colors, the way he worked out the surfaces, the cut out details of the dresses, the mix of printed silk with plastic. Definitely, Prabal Gurung has a particular way to dress a woman.
