Jil Sander x Raf Simons (end of story)

Jil Sander Fall 2012. That’s a special collection, Raf Simons’ last collection for Jil Sander. A fact that maximized the visual impact and the emotional charge of the fashion show. Everybody agreed on the quality of the offer, no need to put out the remarkable finishes in every Jil Sander piece of cloth.  Everything is in the details!

Honestly, these silhouettes bring nothing new, but the color palette is delicious and the tailored details are incredible. The mini corsets, the high waisted pants, all these double face coats are good investments for a timeless wardrobe.

Armored Beauty

The latest issue of L’ Officiel Ukraine, captures Alejandra Alonso, well armored in Iris Van Herpen designs or Van Herpen- inspired outfits. Developing her sculptural silhouettes and her signature 3D structures, the Dutch designer is, undoubtedly, one of the major influences on the contemporary fashion scene. The upcoming Iris Van Herpen exhibition at Groniger Museum will present the first large scale overview of her work. That sounds really exciting, as Van Herpen is the designer who managed to challenge the very idea of contemporary  “couture”. What about the new “Fang” shoes, the product of Van Herpen’s fifth successful collaboration with United Nude? Awesome pieces, huh?

Alexander Wang x Die Antwoord

Alexander Wang, the designer of the new generation of American fashionistas, takes a step further with his T line S/S 2012 Ad Campaign. This time, he made an edgy choice picking the South African band Die Antwoord (who says he doesn’t have good taste?). The T campaign, shot by Daniel Jackson, is featuring Die Antwoord’s new single Fatty Boom Boom, along with a “behind the scenes” video, showing Ninja and Yo-Landi on the streets of NY. Enjoy!

ADzero

ADzero is the first bamboo smartphone in the world, and it’s absolutely stunning. We know few things about this device yet: it runs on Android, its body is made of pure bamboo with a huge display and is said to be almost half the weight of an iPhone.

The bamboo phone was designed by a 23 year old Kieron-Scott Woodhouse, a student at the Middlesex University. And he was really inspired. The phone is to be released in China and the UK soon, but other details are hard to come by at the moment. Anyway, I think the concept is brilliant – it’s nice, smart, stylish and eco-friendly. ADzero will be a luxury product, and that’s the way it should be… in the beginning. The trend of “natural” technology seems very appealing to me, and I’m sure it will play a great role over the next couple of years.

Like A Lady

Although it’s nothing entirely new out there, the YSL Pre-Fall Collection 2012/2013 features some notable pieces: the clean-cut jumpsuits, the golden shoes and the leather T-shirts. In short, almost everything you need to dress like a lady.

The Collage Vision

The technique of collage is fascinating and still appealing nowadays, while fashion itself became a huge collage of the contemporary culture. Here’s a particular editorial from the Chinese fashion magazine Vision, featured in an issue inspired by the work of Lee Alexander McQueen.
