Fashionable Hybrid Concepts

Manish Arora or vintage Thierry Mugler?

Tom Ford vs. Romanian Blouse

… I’ve streamlined things more this season. I think I’m very classic, because what I do is always based on something you’ve seen before. And yes, maybe there’s something YSL about it. When I left off designing for women, I was at YSL so I’m working through that to be me, asking myself, What do I like? What defines your brand?”   confessed  Tom Ford to Vogue

Isn’t he adorable?

*Romania Peasant Blouse is already famous for inspiring artists worldwide, as Matisse and Yves Saint Laurent. Tom Ford did a wonderful job, too ( he always knows precisely what the women need ! ).

Extreme Lacing

I don’t know how “wearable” are Iris Van Herpen‘s fantastic outfits yet, but the shoes that she designed in collaboration with United Nude definitely are! When the concept is great, there’s always a way  to move ahead, for spectacular & marketable projects. The S/S  2011 Collection of United Nude x Iris Van Herpen stands out as a perfect sample for keeping the dream and still moving ahead.

Playin’ With The Flags

I was really impressed when I came across these images. These are flags, actually Romanian flags, reworked by American artist Andra Ursuta.

The Bright Connections

Can you bear such a brightness? I feel like I need it from time to time.

The Misbehaviors

Almost 100 years ago, Madmoiselle Coco epitomized the flapper style and the ideal free spirit. She contributed to the fashion in numerous ways- introducing the black dress, worn with pearls a la faux, the slender silhouette, etc. , operating a kind of revolutionary body release. That was the core of her work. On the other side – her visual fashion formula perpetuates in our days, and sells a lot.  What about the misbehaviors? A fashion formula can be revisited or updated in many spectacular ways. The same black, the same body democracy, the same string of pearls – fashion is always about the cultural heritage, but also about breaking the rules and giving it a twist!

Kimiko Yoshida

The Art of Kimiko Yoshida consists of innumerable self portraits, well studied and wonderfully styled. The Japanese artist who lives in France since the 90s, develops her photos in series based on various themes – bridal attire, military attire, masks etc. In terms of fashion (and not only), this is a truly inspiring photography.
