Visual – vision- visionaire. Every cultural avant-garde defines itself through the power of its vision. The vision on fashion, art, mood, body etc. Now, let’s take a look at the source of the nihilist images above: Vision China.

“VISION is a leading art and fashion magazine showcasing the international visual art, fashion and culture to Chinese readers. With its unique visual expression, VISION has seen tremendous development of the Chinese creative industry since 2002, exerting
great influence on the new talents in fashion, art and design in China.

VISION cannot be interpreted as a traditional magazine, because it is so visually exuberant and sensational that only sedated value will be filtered after in readers’ mind. What is the spirit of fashion? What is lifestyle with international taste? What is the individuality among the trendy flock? What is the true beauty people look for? VISION never offers definite answers, but provoking these questions is what we always wish to do.”

Instead of Make-up

Gareth Pugh – Fall/ Winter 2011/2012.

What happens when you mix technological appeal with fashion’s new tribalism? It’s a kind of beauty revolution, it’s Gareth Pugh.

Gareth Pugh is no stranger to the wonderful world of makeup. As you know, Gareth Pugh isn’t interested only in clothes, his dark beauties reveal a deeper challenge on the body level. Designing something for a cosmetic label sounds natural to him, and really makes sense. Gareth Pugh has developed a new line with Mac Cosmetics, that will come out in November. So, we’re expecting some  interesting packaging designs,  black lipsticks, angular lashes and butterfly-wing-inspired polishes.

A Particular Swan

The Giles Collection S/S 2012 is fabulous, with all those silver fabrics, sophisticated laser-cuts and funny sunglasses. The designer himself warns that it’s not another Black Swan collection, which is absolutely true. In fact, his collection is more linked with another family of swans, as Bjork’s controversial one. One more reason to fall in love with Giles Deacon’s work.

The Story of Yuyi

This  short film, directed by famous photo- duo, Inez and Vinoodh, is featuring Gaga as mermaid Yüyi. Shot during the making of the official video  “You and I”, I think this mini- film is much better than the final, redundant version of it. And talking about second-skins… Note the spectacular skin of the mermaid- Formichetti’s signature styling.

Joji Kojima

What can I say about Joji Kojima‘ s jewelry? They say it is macabre, or baroque, I don’t know… I think it’s just fabulous.

Born in California, Kojima studied graphic design at Tama Art University, working as an assistant for Yoshiko Creation Paris. Later, Kojima introduced his custom brand Hotel Gluttony. The label turned heads when Lady Gaga made a guest appearance on Music Japan wearing Yoshiko’s black umbrella headpiece entitled “B-612” (from the Le Petite Prince collection). Anyway, Joji Kojima’ work stands out through his alternative looks; his artful pieces are infused with poetry and irony, bearing a lot of fictional connections. I guess it’s all about dreaming and sharing some  fantastic stories.

Hair Style Matters

We know that dress matters, but the hairstyling is essential! A fact that’ s always re-confirmed during the big fashion weeks. Here are  some of my favorites hairstyles by Guido Palau. Guido is not only a hair-dresser, he’s a trendsetter and he’s a real artist.

Strict

“Strict”, the editorial of Interview Magazine (september issue), is another story about black leather, bondage and glam, featuring the outfits of Azzedine Alaia, Marc Jacobs, Salvatore Ferragamo and Alexander McQueen. But what a gorgeous story!
