Melting Ice Cream

Kermit Tesoro is a young talent from the Philippines. He’s designing shoes and clothes, using particular fabrics as rubber, foam, wood and wires.  The  melting-ice-cream-dress is quite outstanding.

Meadham Kirchhoff

Perhaps for most of you the Meadham Kirchhoff name sounds familiar. I just came across their Menswear S/S 2013 Lookbook and I decided this particular fashion brand needs a closer examination.

Meadham Kirchhoff is a team of Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchhoff, two designers who graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2002, then started a brand that seems very promising. Whether we’re talking about their menswear or womenswear, we can find an uninhibited repertoire: color, humor, irony.

Regarding their Menswear Collection S/S 2013 – That’s an interesting lookbook! The perfect apartment, perfect set design, perfect time in a lifetime. Nobody can’t deny the refinement and sensibility put in these images. Models are presented in a luxurious setting with shabby styled furniture, where floral arrangements cohabits with rubbish, delicate printed fabrics work well with denim and sneakers. That’s were West meets East, the Kurt Cobain nostalgia is somehow revived,  finished with jewelry, painted hands and stunning hairstyles, adorned with scarfs and saris. There’s a full package of  neo-bohemian style dedicated to a new generation of global teenagers.

[Gloss]ary

I think it’s quite uneasy to find a proper way to talk about fashion (professionally speaking). Many scholars tend to theorize fashion converting it in intellectual stuff. On the other hand, notorious fashionistas around the world prefer to display fashion rather than talking about it. As the world of fashion is neither too serious, nor completely superficial, how should we approach it?

Danilo Venturi, the author of Luxury Hackers has a  particular take on fashion. He constantly plays with the fashion terminology and I’m sure he’s having fun dissecting, connecting or inventing words. The text becomes alive, juicy and ironic, as it should be. Recently, he put these terms together for some kind of fashion glossary. And, no kidding, it really makes sense. Check out:
